凯瑟琳夫人是一个非常傲岸自大的女人，她依仗着本身的财产和职位，到处对人发号施令，作者对她是极尽了讽刺之能事的。作者的讽刺渗入在字里行间，即这类讽刺是通过词语的挑选和句式的组合安排表示出来的。在这儿我感觉，遵循原文的语序译来，仿佛是能较多表现出一些作者的讽刺口气。在词语的翻译上也是如此，“pollution”普通是指详细环境的净化，这儿将此词直译出来，即译出它的本义，较能表现原文的气势和口气。译为“玷辱”仿佛便失掉了原文在这儿的一个隐喻了。？
