“你好。”小王子很有规矩地答复。他转过身，却甚么也没见到。

“我来找人。”小王子说，“甚么叫‘顺服’呢？”

就如许，小王子顺服了狐狸，但是转眼就要分离。

“再去看看那些玫瑰花吧。你必然会明白，你的那朵是天下上独一无二的玫瑰。你返来和我告别时，我再赠送给你一个奥妙。”

"Good morning," the little prince responded politely, although when he turned around he saw nothing.

“但是你甚么好处也没获得。”

“典礼是甚么？”小王子问道。

"Please― tame me!" he said.

“那么我该当作些甚么呢？”小王子说。

狐狸又把话题拉返来：

“我不能和你一起玩，”狐狸说，“我还没有被顺服呢。”

狐狸感到利诱，但却非常猎奇。

“这也是一种常常被忽视的事。”狐狸说，“它就是使某一天与其他日子分歧，使某一时候与其他时候分歧。比如说，那些猎人就有一种典礼。他们每礼拜四都和村庄里的女人们跳舞。因而，礼拜四就是一个夸姣的日子！我能够一向漫步到葡萄园去。如果猎人们不在牢固的时候跳舞，每天又全都一样，那么我也就没有假日了。”

"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose...""I am responsible for my rose," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

第二天，小王子又来了。

“你们一点也不像我的那朵玫瑰，你们现在甚么都不是呢！”小王子对她们说，“没有人顺服过你们，你们也没有顺服过任何人。你们就像我的狐狸畴昔那样，他当时只是和千万只别的狐狸一样的一只狐狸。但是，我和他成了朋友，因而他现在就是天下上独一无二的了。”

"On another planet"

“再见。”狐狸说，“喏，这就是我的奥妙。很简朴：只要用心才气看得清。首要的东西，用眼睛是看不见的。”

The fox seemed perplexed, and very curious.

"You are not at all like my rose," he said. "As yet you are nothing. No one has tamed you, and you have tamed no one. You are like my fox when I first knew him. He was only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But I have made him my friend, and now he is unique in all the world."And the roses were very much embarrassed.
